NOTES: Weather Rock (2012/13) This quintet for violin, cello, and 3 percussion treats the instruments as an unlikely aeolian harp, placed in the desert to be documented and observed through time-lapse photography. Many of the sounds are produced by a very dry friction - of the bow, but also of line tied to strings, of stones, and of sandpaper. It was commissioned by Santa Fe New Music.
